CLASSES
The Caribbean Sailing Association currently has
a policy to support the following classes primarily. The interest of the CSA
in supporting certain events derives from the fact that inter territorial competition
has in the past been severely hampered by the lack of consistent classes throughout
the Caribbean. This has to some extent been alleviated already.
Optimists: Active fleets in this class sailed in Trinidad, Barbados,
Antigua, St Maarten, St Barths, St Thomas, Puerto Rico, Martinique and Guadeloupe.
Laser: Active fleets in this class sail in Trinidad, Barbados, St Lucia,
Antigua, St Maarten, St Thomas, St Croix, St John, Puerto Rico, Martinique
J24: Active fleet in this class sail in St Croix, St Thomas, Tortola
and Puerto Rico.
The following are the events that are currently sanctioned as Caribbean Championships.
In order to qualify for a Caribbean Championship the executive of the CSA needs
to be convinced that any event is the most suitable for this sanctioning in
terms of various criteria which are listed.
The sanctioning is on a yearly basis.
